Suigetsu gave a slow nod at Karin’s words, knowing the feeling well. “There’s a reason for that”, he said slowly. “Those with power have less to fear. We live in an imperfect world and sometimes you have to defend yourself, that’s the way it works”, he remarked. “When you have power, you can defend yourself from these evils and live in a way that you want to live”, he said as they kept walking. It is this power that lets us live in the way that we want. “Sasuke first hired us because of this power, we would have less to fear once we became a team. We were all strong in our own ways”, he remarked slowly. “You’ll come to understand what freedom really is. Think what you want about this cut, but like this wound you’ve only barely scratched the surface of sword play”

Karin glanced over at him, and was irritated, but managed not to show any outward signs of it. Suigetsu could be the perfect example of how young children were egocentric. He was quite childlike and more often than not she was willing to bet he would always be that way. "I'm not interested in having power Suigetsu. It's only one thing, some people struggle and die for it, but to be honest, it's not my key interest in life." She shrugged her shoulders. Truth be told, she had no idea what she actually wanted. But it wasn't power and to be feared. Maybe that was his desire, but not her own.

"You're thinking way more about that cut than I am Suigetsu. I honestly don't care that I can injure you. All of these years, our fighting has always consisted of me hitting you because both of us knew you wouldn't be injured by it. Your fighting with me has always been verbal. If we wanted to kill one another, I'd be dead by now. I have no interest in killing you, Suigetsu."

Suigetsu just shrugged her comments off. Clearly she never knew what it meant to suffer if she didn’t care about power. That was how it always worked, those who could be hurt were made to suffer by those with power. Absolute power lead to absolute misuse of power. When you had strength you could fight back, and that’s why it was so important to Suigetsu. What did Karin know about suffering? The genin of the blood mist had to kill their own allies to graduate. Survival of the fittest.

Karin might understand that one day, but she would. Suffering came to everyone, especially the weak. Karin was weak, so she wasn’t going to survive unless someone helped her. “How long till a hotel or somewhere we can stop? I feel like Konoha is having a freaking heat wave or something”, he muttered.

Karin sighed. He seemed so stubborn that it made no sense to her. Maybe where he grew up was really that different from where she did. Then again, she had spent most of her time with Orochimaru. Like with so many others, he took her in without judgment or prejudice. Being a girl, she could have ended up in much worse placed. "There's one about four miles from here. And Konoha is always hot around this time of here. It's around 90 everyday." She looked over at him. Yeah, he seemed pleased about the heat, that much she could tell. He was irritated, so he might be running out of water.

“90 degrees!? I’m survived that I’ve gone as long as I have”, Suigetsu remarked as he wiped the sweat from his brow. In Kiri it was always cold, whether it was raining or snowing or just plain cold. Suigetsu never had to worry about melting at all back home, but of course he could never go back there again. “I can make it four or five miles”, he said before taking some deep breaths. “I got some money for finances so I’ll pay for both rooms”, he said as he realized he hadn’t spent any of the money that Youki had given him yet.

Karin smiled when he spoke. So it seemed that he could melt. She'd seen him sweat, but never fall apart. Truth be told, it would be interesting to see. As they walked, she started to steer them in the same general direction, but the the left a little more. It seemed that the hotel was a little more angled in this direction. She was relaxed, but growing more and more tired. This stupid blade was getting heavier because she had been carrying it for so long. "I want to behind this to my back like yours is." She added, knowing it would be much easier to carry it than she was now. Looking up at him, she stared into his purple eyes for a few moments. "Then we can train tomorrow when it's cool, right?" She questioned, not wanting to stress him into being a wet gelatinous mess.

Suigetsu took another long drink, realizing that he was almost out of water in his water bottles. They had traveled really far today, and he had even fought off some guys so he was in worse condition than usual. HE could make it though, after all he couldn’t fall when his goal was so close. At Karin’s comment he glanced over to her. “Nah, you’d want that attached to your hip”, he explained as he glanced at her. “That way you could pull it out faster. I attach this to my back because I have no real choice”, he explained. “That’s why most katanas are attached to the side of a shinobi, makes for a quickly unsheathing in case they are suddenly attacked”, he pointed out. Talking about weapons distracted him from the heat, so he was actually grateful for this conversation.

"It's too long to be by my side. I don't want it at my hip, I'd rather it be on my back. I don't really care what everyone else does, and I move fast enough for it to be there. I'm not as tall as you are. It's weight will be distributed better on my back and I'll be able to run." Karin was too stubborn to listen to him. She was going to do what she wanted regardless of his advice. At least when it came to things like this. It was about her comfort, not about his. "I'll try it both ways, but I think I already know how I'd rather carry it, okay?"

Suigetsu listened to the woman talk. Well she could do what she wanted. Hell, every swordsman had to find the strategy that fit them best, maybe Karin would use it even better if it was on her back. “Yeah you’re right, sorry”, he said casually. Suigetsu didn’t even realize what he said, but he had never before apologized to Karin before. It was a sign though, he was starting to respect her more. Most likely because of the sword. Funny what made people change around others. “I have a strap that you can use, you should train in taking it off of your back without cutting yourself though. Believe it or not I’ve seen people do it”

Karin nodded, pushing her glasses up the ridge of her nose. Everything had something that worked for them. "I'm nor surprised, but I'm not usually clumsy when it comes to weapons. I ran a prison, I'm pretty good with knives and scalpels." As they walked, she looked up to see the sun fading from view. Interestingly, it just made the area hotter rather then cooler. "Are you tired?" She asked, as if able to sense that he was out of water. Putting her hand into the pouch that usually carried kunai, she pulled out a small blue pill. "It's a medical dehydration capsule. My guess it might work for you." She shrugged her shoulders.

Suigetsu blinked. He supposed that he never really considered that part of Karin. You couldn’t run a prison based on fear by being nice and weak. She used knives before so she could handle herself. Suigetsu wasn’t sure why he hadn’t ever considered this fact before. He shrugged it off as they kept moving. He felt his entire body sweating, or falling apart in this case. Another hour of this and Suigetsu would be nothing more than a puddle. He glanced over as Karin offered him a pill. It probably wasn’t much but it sounded better than nothing. “Thanks”, he said before he took the pill and popped it into his mouth. “Wow….I feel better already”, he remarked as he looked down at his skin which stopped swaying like water.

Karin grinned when he took it. "I'm actually quite good at most medical based things despite not being a medical ninja. I used to torture prisoners for information, I know how to push them without killing them. It stands to reason I can recognize signs of dehydration." As they walked, she was starting to consider the fact they were getting along, but found it a little strange that they were. It was just... weird. They had never been together and not fighting before. Even when Sasuke was there. All they did was fight. The thought of Sasuke made her mentally cringe, but she soon let the thought slip from her mind.

Suigetsu continued to move forward. “Suppose that makes sense, that which heals can kill in enough doses right? Or something like that”, he said with a shrug. Suigetsu only knew the basics of medical information, if tested on it he’d probably do worse than anyone else. He really didn’t have need for healing………or usually at least. “Well thanks again, I can definitely make it over to the hotel now. I wonder if they have a pool”, Suigetsu remarked with excitement.

Karin watched him out of the corner of her eye for a moment. They were actually getting along, he thanked her. That meant something that she wasn't sure what to think about it. Where they getting along because she hated Sasuke now, or was it just for the sake of this mission? It did make things easier, that much she had to admit. It seemed now they could both get something out of this interaction. "They might have one. Water doesn't have chakra unless a person is using it." She shrugged as they continued walking. they were much closer and she could sense people much closer to them.

“Well if they do have one I’m going to do like twenty laps”, Suigetsu said with a chuckle. “Being in water just puts so much more life in ya, you feel like you can do anything”, he said happily. Of course he was talking about himself, but sometimes Suigetsu felt like water was something that everyone should appreciate. How many things would die without water after all? Without water no one would be alive. Suigetsu snapped to attention. “Oh yeah, what’s our cover story?”, he asked curiously. “I mean……people might get suspicious about who we are. We don’t want to get reported”

Karin suddenly realized she never came up with a cover story, something that she was usually quite good at. Her eyes wandered around the trees in front of them as she thought about what she could do and things along those lines. "Well..." She whispered in thought. "I never really thought about it to be honest. What do you think it should be? I'm pretty open to whatever ideas you have as long as it doesn't involve me being a prisoner or you trying to kill me." Glancing over at him, she shrugged. "Whatever you want."

Suigetsu just shrugged. Like he really had a preference for what they were doing? “Well we could go with the old classis that we’re a traveling couple. But since I can tell neither of us want that I have a better suggestion”, he said as he glanced at her. “How about I’m escorting you to Konoha because you’re worried there are some people following you. That would explained why I’m so heavily armed and why you have a weapon at least”, he suggested.

Karin made a face of disinterest and disgust when he mentioned the fact that they could be a couple. His counter of it however made her feel much more comfortable. Nodding, she looked over at him. "Yeah, well me thinking someone's following me won't do much. Someone can be stalking me, that sounds more believable I suppose." She shrugged her shoulders in disinterest. "I'm flexible." She admitted.

“Alright well I’m your bodyguard at any rate, what you come up with for yourself is up to you”, Suigetsu said as they kept moving. “You should do all the talking, if I’m hired help than it makes sense that you’d handle your own funds”, he said as he held out some money to her and grinned. “It should be enough for a room I think”

Karin took the money from him and looked it over. Looking a little surprised, she glanced over the money at him. "Did you even count how much this is?" She questioned, surprised that he could possibly have this much money. Then again, there was a good chance that Youki gave it to him. Her hand slid down her thigh in an attempt to put the money in the pocket of her shorts. Then, she remembered she wasn't wearing them. Now the realization that she had no pockets sunk in, she sighed and put the money into her bra against one of her breasts to keep it safe. Not like she had any other choice...

Suigetsu just gave a small shrug. “I figured as long as it was enough there was no point in counting it all out”, he pointed out. It wasn’t like she couldn’t give him the change. After all this was still his money that he was working for. Karin was probably getting paid in some other way, he was surprised that she hadn’t been given money before the start of this. Then again Karin probably wasn’t as forceful with her demands as Suigetsu was with his. He didn’t even notice where Karin hid her money, since he wanted to get to the hotel, and hopefully the pool in it, as quick as he could.

Karin rolled her eyes. "Yeah, because I could much easily take some of it from you." She concluded sarcastically. Karin had been given money but not as much as Suigetsu had. And well, she wasn't about to tell him that. Stretching as they walked, she smiled as they grew closer. "You'll see it after we pass this cluster of trees. It's not far at all." As they moved towards the trees and she could feel how excited and how much he wanted to see if there was a pool. Oh well, if it made him happy, that was good enough. He'd be less irritated.

Suigetsu just shot another one of his usual grins at her. “Well who knows, you are getting stronger after all”, he said as they kept moving forward. He actually meant it that time. Karin still didn’t have that warrior’s spirit that would get her through life, but she was getting closer. She was starting to realize what strength she did have. She was nowhere good as he was of course, but seeing the strong side of her made more likeable in Suigetsu’s eyes. “That close huh!?”, he asked happily as he moved to follow Karin. Just a little bit further and they’d be in sight of their first real resting stop. Even if they didn’t have a pool at least it was better than the firestorm out here!

The realization that Suigetsu complimented her took a little while to sink in, but it made her smile none the less. He was starting to like her more which made her feel more confident. Moving through a cluster of trees a village came into view. There was a bunch of houses, some stores, and a few hotels. The economy of the small town was mostly from shinobi and travels, and it didn't appear that there were any shinobi native. Of the four hotels and motels, only one of them had vacancies. Karin walked into it a few feet head of Suigetsu. This one had a pool and there was a sign that said it did over the counter. Karin asked for a room, and it seemed they only had one left. And it only had one bed.

Surprised, Karin turned to face Suigetsu who was a few feet behind her. "That's fine." She added without waiting for a response. He could sleep in the pool or something-she wanted a bed. Taking the key, she walked off to go to the room and went into the room, opening the door. Walking in, she rested the sword against the wall and pulled off the pouch around her waist. Putting it on a table, she went over to the bed and laid down. She was surprised however that the bed was as large as it was. It almost borderline excessive, even if two people were sleeping in it.

The place seemed okay enough, they’d have to look into it more and have Karin keep tabs on any Chakra signals coming in. No shinobi could suppress their chakra that much, unless they had completely run out though. As they were told about the bed Suigetsu was surprised that Karin immediately said yes, even though she shot him a quick glance. Well there was a pool, so he could just stay in there all night he supposed. As they made their way up to their room he watched as Karin rested the sword down and moved to lay down on the bed. Suigetsu removed his own sword and rested it against the wall. “Well, I think I’m going to go hang out at the pool. If you sense any chakra come get me immediately yeah?”
