Violent Repose is set well after the end of SC4, now into the year 1824, and the world has advanced very far in terms of civilization but the ideas of wrong and right remain the same. Here now we watch new fighters venture out into the world and seek out their answer to their problems in the rumors of Soul Calibur and Soul Edge the mystical weapons that can end their troubles forever.

"Okay..." Alex thought aloud sitting in a chair leaned back at a table in a small town on the mediteranian coast of france, whose name he couldnt pronounce, his french was a little rusty though he'd had lessons in just about every language and had a basic understanding of the most common languages he still couldnt understand why the rumors stopped here? All of the rumors so far had pointed to this little town. This wasnt going to hold the gunslinger back, not now not ever.

For now thought Alexander was more than content lounging about this little tavern. Sure his position wasnt polite but what could one expect from the son of a Florida Slave owner who was the prince of his own world? Perhaps a lead would present itself?

And there would come an incredible explosion that rocked the very foundation of the building, black smoke pouring from the kitchen door as a young woman covered in full black scrambled out coughing and wheezing.

"Bleh! Méchant! La fumée goûte si répugnante!" She coughed a few more plumes out before she had the owner of the establishment looming over her, glancing up at him with an embarrassed expression. "Heh...heh…… Désolé…" she spoke with a nervous smile. Obviously he wasn't pleased with her work, grabbing her by the collar of her shirt, dragging her to the door and tossing her out. How suck was THAT?!

Estelle could only groan, get back onto her feet and barge back in straight past the one who'd just kicked her out. She quickly dove back into the smoky kitchen and emerged coughing all over again with a bag full of tools before running out the door of her own volition this time.

"Au revoir!"

Alex could only say he'd ever seen that much smoke billow from a steam engine before when he'd ventured to New England on the trail of the rumors about Soul Caliber. Perhaps that's what she had going on in there, after all that bag wasnt chef's tools. But something more mechanical. It was quite a bit more entertaining to watch the man throw the young woman, though he kinda sweat dropped after she left with a fare-well...

Well she seemed intresting enough and he got that gut feeling, the one that told him to follow the rumors of Soul Edge, the gut feeling that lead him here. Standing up and dropping a few franks on the table Alex followed out the door. Perhaps she wouldnt be too far gone.

Actually Estelle had stopped not all that far from the establishment she'd just left in ruin, doing her best to brush the black dust from her clothes and skin. She really only seemed to be rubbing it in further.

"Là disparaît ce chèque de règlement…" she complained quietly to herself. This was turning out to be some day! If only she could invent something that didn't have some fatal flaw here or there...

Well one might even go so far as to say that she is the hard working type. She definately was working on something or other and complaining about something he didnt catch but it was her tone that really gave her distress away. Funny that it might have been just that that gave him that gut feeling about her, perhaps the reason he was lead to this town by those rumors was because she was there and she was fated to help him find Soul Edge! That could be the only reason for the gunslinger to be here.

That was certainly a far fetched idea, but then anything is possible...

Estelle glanced up from her ineffective cleaning, coughing and complaining to find a man very much focused on her. How troublesome... Had he come to laugh at her?

"Fantastique… Avancez et riez. Pas comme j'attends moins de personnes autour d'ici… Laissez-moi seul." she bitched sarcastically at him with a roll of her eyes. She didn't pay him much mind aside from that, going back about her business.

After being addressed and told to laugh or so he thought Alex approached and opened his mouth, his french was very poor and he had a very poor american accent. "Pardon, parlez-vous anglais?" He asked with a genuine smile on his face. He didnt know enough french to speak with a long conversation.

Estelle was able to pinpoint exactly where the one addressing her was from even just from the brief question.

"North American... South... South... ... ...Eastern I want to say... That one is always hard to pinpoint... Hearing Americans attempt to speak French is truly a joy. You are so clumsy over the most simple words!" she replied to his question in a roundabout way. Her French accent was thick, obviously a native. Either way she definitely spoke fluent English. "Now unless you are a wealthy businessman with deep pockets or are willing to give me information I desire I request that you please vanish from my site post haste."

"Thank you." Alex responded keeping a smile on his face. "Well actually, I've yet to inherit my father's lands, but that makes no diffrence." He paused for a seccond, "Though if you want information I'm an open book ask me anything." He paused for another seccond. "And your english is very, very good." He was glad that she was atleast willing to talk to him and was easy on the eyes.

"Do the words 'Cursed Sword' mean anything to you?" Estelle asked nonchalantly. She didn't flinch and didn't reply to his compliment about her English. Of course she knew English! She knew like a bajillion different languages! "I'm gathering money for travel in search of rumors of such a fascinating specimen. A simple yes or no will suffice..."

Alex's eyes grew a little wider with her words. She liked the swords. "If you tell me I'll take you with me on my quest to find Soul Edge. He had enough money to travel a small party. unhindered. "I have come here, from Spain, and from then Boston, and from then my home, following rumors and whisperes that brought me here by ship. But now I have lost the trail from here, and as a local with the same intrests you'd know where to go."

Perhaps it was one of the things that made Alexander was the son of a plantation owner and quite rich there... "I could use a local with command of many languages in my quest for it." Though he was only after Soul Edge, Soul Caliber shouldnt be too far away from it.

Estelle was quick to shush the man from talking anymore.

"Keep it down... Keep any information you may have received to yourself till we are in private..." A quick sign to follow her and a quick snatching of her tool bag later and they were off to a different location. "My name is Estelle Maxence, local inventor, scientist, doctor, linguist, botanist and a number of other things I can not even recall at the moment. Just an all around prodigal genius... Of course nothing I have invented has worked so far, but I am working out the kinks here and there as I go. Feel free to give me your name at any time."

A bit of a walk later and they arrived at a moderate apartment. It was nothing fancy, but it was functional. She continued to lead him along a flight of steps before reaching a door and flinging it open, stepping inside and beckoning him in. It wasn't exactly the most welcoming place, covered in ash and littered with useless mechanical parts, but at least the seats, bed, kitchen and bathroom were clean! The abode was meant for function over fancy decorations.

Once both were inside she slammed the door quickly and walked further inside, immediately going about drawing water from her homemade water heater (it actually sort of worked, but wasn't really practical), which was more like a large cauldron of water heated lukewarm by a flame below kept contained by yet more iron, and carrying each bucket off to the bathroom. A bath was plainly necessary at a time like this!

"I want everything you know about the sword. I refuse to speak a word before I know everything that you know."

"Two swords." Alexander spoke with a quick smile still astounded by all of the junk, he'd seen parts like things in his wheel guns. Perhaps she could upgrade them sometime but back to other things. "Soul Caliber and Soul Edge." He paused walking around a short bit. "They are in Europe somewhere. Whispers of their occourance are rare but growing increasingly, Ive only been at this quest about three months now." He paused after walking about. "Both weapons are pure power, Soul Edge is said to be of great power and healing and restoration." He looked at what she was doing, perhaps she was drawing some kind of bath? Either way.

He continued "Soul Caliber is a sword of power that focuses on attack, and drains energy and feeds off the life force of an oppoent." He'd learned quite a bit from the rumors, "Nearly a hundred years ago, the two fought several huge battles, before dissapearing. Retreating into the annals of History and Rumor." With that He brushed the dust from his hands a little.

"Hmph..." Estelle stopped her busy activity for a moment to look at her latest guest, crossing her arms as she glared. It was actually sort of comical covered in black ash, but she wasn't trying to look funny. "Whoever gave you your information is sadly mistaken. Soul Edge is a cursed blade that has caused many battles and killed countless men. It is said to be inherently evil, guarded in a secret vault somewhere in Italy by a phantom spirit that kills anyone trying to claim it's power. I was currently gathering funds to travel there and search for it myself before this incident occurred." She went back about her water gathering as she continued now that her main point was made. "I have never heard of any Soul Calibur, but I certainly would not mind taking a look at it as well if it really exists."

And finally she was finished! Drawing a bath was such a stupidly difficult business... She needed to find some way to automatically draw water into her baths...

"I'll be a few minutes... Feel free to look around. If you wish to speak further talk through the door." And it was shut as she went about stripping and bathing and whatnot.

Alex leaned on the closed door with a quick exasperated sigh. Looking around the room for a seccond he nodded his head, her room was quite messy. "I guess I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Alexander White, Im an adventurer first and fore-most." With that done. "Yeah... about that, All I really had to work with was seccond hand information and only then it was whispers and rumors I guess its unsuprising that things got backwards and mixed up, though how are you so sure Soul Edge rests in Italy?"

All Alex would be able to hear from his end for a first few minutes was some light splashing and a relaxed sigh. It was only after she was settled that she returned his dialogue.

"Pleasure to meet you, Alex. Nice of you to share your name. My contacts are mine and mine alone, but I am going on very reliable hearsay and investigation that leads to a number of random disappearances around Sicily. I am of the mind that the cursed sword must surely be in a secret place somewhere in or around the city."

She went about noisily washing herself, scrubbing vigorously with poorly made soap in an attempt to get all the black off of her arms, legs and face. It was working... but it was working very slowly...

He paused hearing the noise of her cleaning herself off, "If you have any tomato juice you might use that, soot comes of pretty easily then." He was an avdenterous boy with memories of his mother who'd cleaned him up several times as a four-year-old after he'd crawled through ashes or the chimney or anything else. "Though if you trust your leads with whatever meager money you'd made I trust them too." That was about all he could think about for now. "Though hopefully we'll discover leads on Soul Caliber then."

"Not enough money," she replied to his suggestion absently as she continued to violently scrub. "I put everything I had into the new oven I was trying to sell that tavern, expecting a great return. Instead it blew up in my face... literally. It was not my greatest financial investment. Unfortunately this will have to do considering I cannot even buy food in the state I am in. Meager would be the correct term. Baaaaah! C’est vraiment des conneries!" She had a sudden rant in French followed by a loud splash as she did something violent to the water or perhaps to the soap in the water. There was another sigh and some stirring in the water before she resumed normally.

"I would imagine where there is one then the other cannot be far behind. Do you not think so as well?" she spoke questioningly to the door.

"Aha." Alex nodded, Fate. That was it, it had to be fate, rich boy stumbles upon girl who need money both looking for the same things. Fate. Fucking Fate. "Then I guess you dont have much a life to return to when you leave." He was simply making an observation, but decided to change the subject before he hurt her feelings mistakingly. "So you're alright to travel with some strange guy?"

"I WOULD like to return with my findings once I have discovered and fully analyzed such an amazing weapon and perhaps even brought it back with me. I would imagine everyone would have more respect for me than just as a really smart little girl at that point... No one actually knows anything about it that is not a rumor after all. To be able to study something legendary would be fantastique. I am in no hurry to return before that point though. And I am just fine traveling with you. If you try any funny business then I will just kick your ass in twenty different ways. Ever had your arm dislodged and broken in ten different places? I have heard it is quite excruciating."

"Well I hope its not all talk, Ive already ran into one or two wierdos or would be robbers and broke their arms in three diffrent palces before shoving their thumbs up their ass and sending them on their way." Alex chortled a little giving a smile to his image of her in his mind. His eyes closed as he moved from the door to start looking around more. "I can tell you're quite gifted, Oba our blacksmith had a similar room back at our Plantation, god rest his soul." He stopped back at the door.

This girl musta been really really handy in a tight spot for sure then again she was looking after herself so why not? And if she kicked as much as as he hoped then she'd be a boon to his adventure. Though he wouldnt venture to go beyond his bounds, he was quite the gentleman, when he needed to be, and this fair young french maiden could apreciate that or so it seemed.

"I bet I could kick more ass than you," Estelle retorted. "Then we will see who is all talk, right?"

There was a pause before the splash and splatter of emerging from the water came about followed by the wet slap of footsteps across the floor. She took a few moments to dry herself sufficiently before she came to a sudden realization.

"Fils de salope!" she swore, again in French. "Please turn around and face away from the door. ...I forgot clothes." She waited for a moment before wrapping herself in the towel cloth and rushing from the bathroom to her own little bedroom where she kept her stuff to get dressed.

He'd turned around just barely as the door came open, "Ya know you're pretty crafty." He spoke with a little smile. "Claiming to be able to whip more ass then me, then telling me to turn around like a good boy so you can dance naked across the room behind me is pretty smart for someone of your intelligence level." He paused, perhaps she would get the hint that he wouldnt turn around for her too much longer, and if she was traveling with him she'd have to be prepaired to rough it if need be.
